Edge Conditioning
Edge De-Burring
Our precision stainless steel slit coils come with a No. 3 Slit Edge as a natural result of the slitting process. Many of our customers utilize this product as is. However, we do offer optional edge profiles that better satisfy the unique needs of their applications. For the most, this is accomplished through either die rolling or skiving. Die rolling edge conditioning will:
- Remove the burr from the edges of the strip
- Smooth the edges
- Render the strip safer to handle

Edge Skiving
Edge skiving is a process that pulls the stainless steel strip through a series of extremely sharp knives. Each knife paring is set to remove an increasing amounts of material until the desired shape and width are achieved. This type of edge conditioning results in:
- Very precise strip widths
- Extremely tight tolerances
- Specific strip profiles (based on knife configuration)
